Brown Butter No Churn Ice Cream

I just ran across this recipe and wanted to share it.  I love butter-pecan ice cream and this recipe looks amazing.  It is a little more complicated than some of those 2 ingredient recipes but I think the results will be amazing.


1/2 cup  Butter
1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
2 cups Heavy Whipping Cream
1 cup toffee bits


I have been seeing all of these amazing Freakshakes on Pinterest and decided I wanted to try making these amazing looking milkshakes.  For my first attempt, I decided to make this chocolate-mint shake since Saint Patrick’s Day is just around the corner.

I topped it with green & white candies,  Andes mint chocolates,  and these lovely powdered donuts.  I also sprinkled everything generously with green sugar and a drizzle of chocolate sauce.  Of course, I had to add a considerate amount of whipped cream.


Make Your Own Banana Dippers

I saw these Dole Banana Dippers in the grocery store several months ago and decided it was too expensive for my budget.  I decided to make my own and compare the price to purchasing them in the store.  To do this, I had to shell out $2.38 for 24 banana slices.  Ouch..  I needed to do it so I could accurately compare the size of the store-bought  banana slices with my homemade ones.

I purchased 5 bananas that cost me $1.05 Making them .21 for each banana. I got 12 slices out of each banana so the cost comparison for the bananas was .42 .  The cost of the coating will depend on what you use.  I used about 4 blocks of chocolate almond bark which cost me about $1.25.  This cost of using the banana chips was about the same price.  This means that the total cost of 24 slices cost me $1.67.

The best part of making your own dippers is that you get to make any flavor you want.  I made chocolate and peanut butter.  White chocolate would also be great.

I’m showing you the way I make chocolate covered  bananas (or marshmallows, strawberries, pretzels, etc).  I make my own version of a double boiler and always use a fork instead of a toothpick.  It allows me to easily tap off all excess chocolate.



Let me start by saying that I love anything key lime so when deciding what kind of ice cream I wanted to make for a picnic at work, I thought of key lime.  Why can’t you make key lime ice cream?  I did some research and couldn’t find exactly what I was looking for.  All of the recipes I ran across sounded like vanilla with a little time juice.

I wanted MY ice cream to taste like real KEY LIME PIE.  Here is what I ended up doing…..(You will notice that is seems a lot like a giant key lime pie, just the taste I was after)



1 can Eagle Brand Sweetened condensed milk
12 oz frozen limeade
8oz frozen whipped topping
Heavy cream or milk
Graham crackers
(If you want to save calories, you can use low-fat Eagle Brand and low-fat milk)



In a bowl, combine Eagle Brand, limeade, whipped topping, and enough milk or cream to reach fill line on your ice cream freezer. (This recipe is for 1 gallon ice cream freezer)

Pour mixture into you ice cream maker, and freeze according to manufacturer’s instructions.

You can stir graham crackers into ice cream or spoon over ice cream when ready to serve.
