Every morning I would wake up and run to the balcony to see what our next port looked like. I watched the sun rise as we pulled into each port and with camera in hand, took pictures of the most beautiful sunrises.
To be honest, I’m not a morning person. A sunrise is that thing that happens while I’m still asleep or while I’m up getting ready for work in the mornings. Waking up in a different country every morning will change you. I didn’t want to miss one second of this vacation by sleeping in. I wanted to absorb every sunrise and sunset and revel in it’s beauty.
As we left Cagliari, Italy and headed to see the Ruins of Nora, we passed miles and miles of salt marshes filled with these beautiful pink flamingos.
This was the first time I had seen this many flamingos at one time and the first time I had experienced flamingos in the wild.
If you research the town of Pula, Italy, you will find nothing but glowing reports about how friendly and it’s rated as the prettiest town in southern Sardinia. I didn’t get to spend much time there since we were just passing through but I would love to go back and explore this little town.
This is the church of Sant’Efisio (twelfth century) which was built in the place where the saint was martyred. At the foot of the sanctuary lies the Guventeddu beach.
Where should we go? This is the first question one faces when planning a vacation. There are so many places in the world to visit which made choosing a cruise a difficult task. She would pick a date and read me a list of various port stops. When she mentioned Sardinia in one of the itineraries I told her to stop, we have found the perfect cruise, I wanted to go to Sardinia.
The desire to go to Sardinia came from hours spent pinning beautiful travel destinations on Pinterest. I had pinned many pictures of Sardinia showing beautiful clear water. So clear that it the boats looked like they were floating on air. I wanted to see this water for myself. We booked our trip and visions of the clear water danced in my mind. I dreamed, I drooled, I read everything about Sardinia. I was beyond excited !
Unfortunately, I forgot to check the location of these beaches. My daughter looked over all of the our excursion options and told me that we would not be able to go the beach that I had seen on Pinterest, It was on the other side of the island and was not an option. Besides, my daughter was looking forward to seeing the ancient ruins of Nora.
So we ended up choosing an excursion called Nora – A walk through ancient times. It ended up being a beautiful day that we both thoroughly enjoyed.
